Last year Brian Calvert, Philip Sorensen and I hosted a 2-day visit by James Fuller who came over from New Zealand to write an article on Grafham and GWFFA.  James is in fact English he came originally from Chatteris where his parents still live, a few doors away from where Brian lived in Chatteris a good few years ago.  James emigrated to New Zealand and Charlie Abrahams put him in touch with me as he was keen to write an article on Grafham, as the fishing is so different from that in New Zealand.  James writes for a couple of NZ fishing magazines.

The plan was to come early October in 2022 and enroute he was to fish the world rivers championship representing New Zealand, I think this was in Spain.  He manged to pick up Covid in Spain, so the trip was delayed by a couple of weeks while he got over it here in the UK.  This proved very helpful as the days we then fished were absolutely perfect, Sludge Bank fished exceptionally well and between the 4 of us we had over 40 cracking shrimp feeding fish on the first day.  The next day we took to the boats to try and catch fry feeders.  They were not having it on the day, so we ended up catching shrimp feeders drifting the north shore but a super day’s sport.  James’s article is based around the shrimp feeders which provided some cracking sport. Grafham banks at their best! Mark Brinkman
